Crop Summary
Rains Aid Tobacco, Corn Crops
Rain on Thursday was gen
eral over the county and
brought hay making opera
tions to a halt. Corn and to
bacco in the field were re
freshed by the showers which
brought relief to certain sec
tions of the county where
drought signs were beginning
to appear.
Pasture clipping in the
county is fairly common as
much of the first crop of al
falfa has been made and to
bacco is all planted on quite
a few farms Pastures were
beginning to show signs of
dry weather but are still pro
ducing good quantities of for
age
Grass is becoming a prob
lem in some cornfields, but
cultivation of the crop is
well advanced and little
weed problem has been re
ported.

With this important new chemical discovery—
Thiodan —you get a multiple kill of several
potato pests at the same time. This means one
shot control which, of course, is a more eco
nomical way to protect your crop.
Thiodan is a concentrate. Just mix with water
and apply with ground or air spray equipment.
And Thiodan is compatible with all commonly ,
used fungicides. Its effectiveness has been proved
over several seasons.

A slight reduction in feed consumption during periods
high production (85 - 95%) may result in the hen consum
less protein, minerals and other essential nutrients them
is depositing in the egg.
This condition, if allowed to continue, could have sen
consequences in the form of a partial neck molt and a;
sible drop in production.
It must be kept in mind that a hen cannot produce eggs
any appreciable time without consuming the necessary
trients for body maintenance, egg formation, and to c
pensate for the quality of nutrients normally lost during
process of digestion and assimilation.
Feed up to 8 or 9 pounds of High Producer Pellets
Bird No. 20) when birds are laying 85- 95%. A high
lay requires a high intake of nutrients.
A good guide for supplementary pellet feeding is to
