Is Dead At 21
The Holstem-Fresi an As
sociation has stamped “com
pleted” on the career record
of the “Milkingest cow that
ever lived”.
Korndyke Beets Jannck
Segis 2065418 (VG) owned
by Clark Bowen and Son,
Wellsboro, died only 541 lbs
short of becoming the first
300.000 lb. lifetime producer
in all dairy cattle history.
During her methusela like
life span of nearly 22 years,
“Old Nit”, as she was known
throughout the registered
Holstein industry, produced
299,459 lbs. of milk
This total, compiled on
twice daily milking, ranks
as the all-time national re
cord regardless of breed or
milking frequency. It com
pares to a lifetime output of
25.000 pounds by the aver
age cow.
As an added claim to
fame, “Old Nit” posted a
lifetime butterfat record of
10,748 lbs. This ranks se
cond high in the 75 year his
tory of the National Holstein
organization’s official produc
tion testing programs
“Old Nit” produced an av
erage of neatly 42 lbs of
milk every day of her life
from her second birthday to
her death No allowance was
made for dry periods in the
calculation
