club during 1953 and 1955.
He advanced through the of

1960.
He held the offices of
game leader. an<i, vice presi
dent before becoming presi
dent of the Lititz-Manheirn
community club this year.
James has been a member
of the 4-H capon club for
two years, the swine club
for two years and the garden
club for three years.
During his first year in
dairy club work, Brubaker
showed the grand champion
Ayrshire at the county 4-H
dairy club roundup and went
on to show his heifer to the
junior championship at the
Pennsylvania State Farm
Show in 1954.
James, when he accepts
his award at the Brunswick
Hotel, will be receiving his
second Kiwanis club prize.
During 1958 he won a $25.
bond in the' club's Soil and
Water Conservation essay
contest.
Active in school and church
organizations, James is a
Junior advisor in the local
chapter Future Farmers of
America, sings in the choir
of the Lititz Church of the
Brethren and the Warwick
Spot county chose her to
represent ' local 4-H club
members during the 1858
and ’59 conventions,
now enrolled. The Garden
High School Glee club, plays

James participated in the
Senior play at his school
and sings in a group of 16
voices called the Warians.
Miss Singer, a graduate of
Penn-j Manor High School,
had projects in cooking and
sewing 4-H clubs. She held
the offices of game leader
and president in the sewing
club, and the posts of vice
president and president in
the cooking club.
Miss Singer, the first girl
to receive the Kiwanis
Scholarship award, was
twice a delegate from Lan
caster county to the state
convention of 4-H clubs at
the University where she is
During the 1957'. conven
tion, she was part of a 4-H
cooking demonstration team
at the same University, after
winning the county competi
tion.
Her blue ribbon win in the
'59 county dress review won
for her the right to compete
in the district dress review
where she modeled some of
the college wardrobe she
had made in club and high
school project work.
Miss Singer has been a
Girl Scout since her seventh
birthday and advanced to the
degree of Junior Aide "in
scouting. During the past
summer she was a counsellor
in the pioneer unit at Camp
Furnace Hills. She has won
her Red Cross swimming in
structor’s rating as well as a
rating in basic canoeing.
