Some Suggestions To Help Reduce
The Percentage
Of Condemnation In Broiler Flocks
1. Practice a rigid culling program, starting on the first day. Remove all sick and ailing birds from
the flock.
2. Provide adequate brooding heat.
3. Install a water medication system. Start necessary treatment immediately. Don't wait for the
bulk bins to become empty.
4. Use a sound vaccination program.
5. Maintain belter control of ventilation by use of heat in the winter and fans in the summer. Use
oi a maximum-minimum thermometer may be beneficial in keeping check on temperature fluc
tuations in the house.
6. Study condemnation report to see what you can do to decrease rejects.
7. Use disposal pits or incinerators to gel rid of all dead birds.
8. Remove all birds from the broiler house. Don't leave any potential carriers of disease to spread
the infection to the next brood.
9. Remove old litter immediately after flock is sold. Do not refill for at least two weeks.
10. Clean up poultry house promptly and thoroughly between each lot.
