Holstein Tour
Is. Next Week
A tour through a frozen
food plant as well as visits
to several dairy farms will
be on the agenda of the
Spring Tour of the Lancas
ter County Holstein Breed
ers on Wednesday, April 27.
County Holstein Breeders
and their families will tour
the facilities of the Pet Ritz
frozen food plant at Cham
bersburg where they will
see the baking and freezing
of over 40 kinds of fruit and
cream pies.
The following herds will
be observed in the Chambers
burg area 1 K Nitterhouse
and Nelson Mye r s, both of
Chambersburg and Adam
Martin of Maughansvxlle,
Maryland
The tour will leave the
Connestoga Transportation
Company terminal on Cast
Chestnut Street promptly at
7:00 am and, after an eve
ning meal with some of the
members of the Franklin
County Holstein Breeders,
will return to Lancaster ab
out 9:00 pm.
National 4-H
Conclave Opens
About 200 of the Nation’s
top-ranking 4-H Club mem
bers from 49 states and
Puerto Rico will attend the
30th National 4-H Conferen
ce in Washington, DC, to
day through April 29. With
the youth will be 100 State
4-H leaders who will parti
cipate in 4 H program work
shops
This will be the first time
the annual Conference has
not been held in June, and
the first time both delegates
and leaders will stay at the
new 4-H Center formally
opened last year when
President Eisenhower cut
the ribbon Conference theme
will be “Getting Set for the
Sixties ” Stressed for the
young people will be “Kn
ow Your Government” and
citizenship - for the adult
workers, leadership.
Delegates will be two
young men and two young
women from each state ex
cept Alaska, and from Puer
to Rico, chosen from 2 254,-
000 4-H’ers belonging to ab
out 93 000 clubs Those sel

of excentmnal achievements
in leadership, citizenship,
and community service, and
