duced an average of 24 59-lbs
oi milk per cow on June 1.
This was two per cent above
last year’s high for the date.
Production was at record- le
vels per cow in all regions.
The total milk produced on
farms in May was 12 595 bil
lion lbs , one per cent below
May 1958, but one per cent
above the 1948-57 average.
A total of 53 5 billion lbs. of
milk were produced in the
first five months of 1959, ab
out 230 million lbs or one
-half per cent less than ,the
same period of 1958
