Powers Warns
Of Bangs in
'Foreign' Cattle
Be skeptical about the
brucellosis status of cattlej
purchased outside Pennsyl
vania warns Chester County
Agent Robert A .Powers, Jr.
He explains the “heat is on”
in other states where brucel
losis certification has not yet
been accomplished, and far
mers are under pressure to
dispose of questionable cat
tle.
It is always best to play
safe and have any herd ad
ditions blood x tested before
they ard allowed contact
with the herd. Keep them
separate thirty days and then
have them tested to be sure
they are brucellosis-free.
Only vigilance on the part
of the man who buys cows
will safeguard his herd ag
ainst this dread disease of
cattle.
Thus Mr. Powers urges
careful buying and testing
of adult herd replacements,
and vaccination of all hei
fers raised to successfully
keep brucellosis out of Pen
nsylvania.
