Everybody Works When Mother Gets a Job
When mother is a wage-earner, household tasks become fam
ily affairs. This is especially true with regard to food preparation
and associated chores, Francena L. Nolan found in- a study of
employed rural homemakers. Mrs. Nolan, rural sociologist at the
Pennsylvania State University Agricultural Experiment Station,
found many families apparently had pretty-well solved the prob
lems arising when the mother works outside the home. On the
other hand, a considerable number of the parents had misgivings
with regard to undesirable effects that absence of the mother
might have on the children
