Our recipes today come from some o X themembers of
Farm Women Society #2O. This group comes from the
Kirkwood-Christiana Area. They meet the third Thursday
of every month.. Some of their many activities include
a mm -e t award to an outstanding F.F.A.
boy in the Solanco High School, sponsoring a girl in the
Miss Solanco contest, sewing for the Cancer Society, sup
porting the Community Chest, Crippled Children, etc.
Sources of revenue Include bakes rummage sales, dem
onstrations and the like. Halloween parties, Christmas
parties and picnics provide their fun. Members who have a
birthlay in the first six
months of the year are enter
tained by members who have
birthdays in the latter part
of the year at a party; and
vice versa.

Apple Pudding

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2teaspoons baking powder
% teaspoon salt
Vi teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup milk
2 cups cooked or canned
apples (sliced) drained
Melt butter in two qts cas

gredients' into batter and

4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon mace
Vs teaspoon salt
Vz cup melted shortening
Separate whites from yolk
Beat yolks, add sugar Beat
well and add milk. Sift flour,
baking powder, mace and
salt Add shortening and fold
in beaten egg whites Roll k
inch thick on floured board
and cut Fry in deep (350 de
grees) for two to three min
utes.

2 teaspoons soda
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs
2 cups rasins (boiled, cool
ed and drained)
1 or 2 packs chocolate
chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Drop on greased sheet and
bake in moderate oven.
Pumpkin Pie

2 cups cooked pumpkin
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
1 tablespoon melted but

2 egg’s beaten
1% cups milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
V* teaspoon g’nger
% teaspoon nutmeg
14 teaspoon salt ,
Mix spices with sugar.
Combine the ingredients in
th’e order given and bake in
hot oven (425 degrees) for
15 m’riutes. Reduce heat to
350 degrees and continue un
til the custard is firm (about
45 minutes).

Cocoanut Custard Pie

6 cups milk 1
IV2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons flour
2 tablesppons cornstarch
salt
6 egg yolks
1 cup cocoanut
Put milk in double boiler
Mix sugar, flour, cornstarch
and salt with water like you
would to make gravy Then
add egg yolks and add to the
milk and cook till thick
When cool add vanilla and
cocoanut -and put in baked
pie shell Top with meringue
and brown. Makes two large
pies

1 lb ground beef
IV2 cups minced onion
2V> cups cooked kidney

1 tablespoon flour
3 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon salt
Cook union nd meat in but
ter; Add kidney beans and to

utes. Make paste of chili pow
der, flour, water and salt
and blend into meat mixture.
Cook over low heat 45 min
utes. Makes eight to nine ser
vings.
Health Dressing
(for tossed salad)

1 tablespoon lemon juice
% teaspoon grated onion
Va cup vinegar
% teaspoon salt
Combine all ingredients
and shake well. Makes about

Few drops of garlic juice

Grind ingredients. Add
seasoning Let set one hour
to add good flavor

1% cups thick milk
1 teaspoon baking soda in
the % cup thick milk
2*4 cups flour
Put in pie or long pan (not
too deep) and cover with the
following topp’ng:
1 cup brown sugar
% cup flour
1 big tablespoon butter
Rub together and sprinkle
over top and bake for % hour
around 350 degrees or more,
