Department of Agriculture. The group’s stud.es will in clude evaluation of the soil and water conservation ac tivities, clarity and adequacy of applicable policies, pro gram-inter-relationships, ad ministrative organizations, and other matters. In announcing formation of the group, Secretary Ben son said “We believe the evaluations of the group will help us toward our goal. which is to achieve the max imum contribution to con servation of the Nation’s soil and water resources from the L. Powers, Jr., Chester County Agent says a review of the Nation’s timber resources by the US DA’s Forest Service holdings of less than 100 acres ac count for 86 percent of all private holdings. These small hold'ngs in clude about 121 million ac res, representing one-fourth of all commercial forest lands approximately as much as all public holdings combined. The study shows 64 per cent of the holdings of less than 100 acres are found in the Northern States.
