Broiler Prices Continue Down
In Face of Increased Supply
Philadelphia, July 8 Broilei
prices continued their downward
trend in the face ol looming
larger supplies At the begin
ning of the week, a round-up ol
prices and sales over the Holi
day week-end showed that prices
continue to slump in the major
producing areas.
The average in the Delmarva
area last week was down to 21 27
cents a pound from at 22 11 cents
average the week before. This
decline pushed the broiler-teed
ratio down to 4 1 from the sum
mer high of 45 a week ago
By way of contrast, the latio
stood at 4 7 a year ago At that
time the cost of feed was about
$8 a ton lower and the price of
broilers was 87 cents higher
