CATTLE AND CALVES The supply
was comprised of approximately 50
per cent fed steers, grading mostly
pood and choice, about 25 per cent
stockers and feeders and the balance
mostly cows In addition to today re
ceipts around two loads of cows, two
loads of Stockers and feeders and
about two loads of vealers were car
ried over from last week’s trade Fed
steers were slow and sold steady to
weak with instances 25 cents lower
Cows and bulls were slow to moderate
ly active. Cows sold steady to weak

Demand for Broilers Generally Good
At Beginning of Week; Ratio Down
PHILADELPHIA, May 27
(USDA) Demand for broiler
and fryer chickens was generally
good throughout the nation at the
beginning of the week The only
soft spot in the market was re
ported in Arkansas.
Delmarva buyers, as usual, were
oil the market waiting for the
price to he established at the
Eastern Shore Poultry Growers
Exchange.
The broiler-feed ratio during
the past week dropped two points,
reflecting a drop of .95 cents in
the average price of broilers. The
feed price remained about the
same.
