Poultry Prices Drop Cent and Half
At Lancaster Exchange Thursday
LANCASTER, April 3 Broil
ers sold at the Poultry Exchange
Auction here followed a national
downward trend and dropped
about a full cent in price from
the week before. Of 85,625 birds
offered, 71,225 were sold
Of this total, 65.400 were broil
ers which averaged 21.2' cents a
pound with a high of 23 cents and
a low of 20 3 4 cents^
Capettes shared in the general
ly softened price and ranged from
33 v 4 to 34 cents a pound for 1,500
head, A lot of 1.100 Upons brought
28> 4 cents and three lots of Leg
horns brought 17 3 4 and 18 cents
A year ago 151.099 broilers av
eraged 204 cents in two sales
A summary for the month of
hlarch shows that the last month
v as the best in price since 1955.
However the number of birds sold
