Snowstorm Changes Rules of Sale
At Recent Poultry Exchange Auction
LANCASTER—The snowstorm
caused a departuie from the nor
mal sale rules at the Lancaster
Poultry Exchange Auction on
March 20 With very few growers
in attendance, all sales were sub
ject to seller confirmation after
the sale.
With the confirmations in, the
results showed that the high broil
er prices weakened a little with
the birds selling from 22 to 234
cents Many groweis declined the
puce offered, resulting in a total
oi 45,695 birds being sold with
108,370 head having been offered.
Capette prices remained general
1\ firm with 6,775 head bringing
from 32 to 364 cents, a lot of
1 000 Leghorn fowl sold for 17%
cents, and 1 200 heavy fowl sold
ior 264 cents
A year ago the average for
Co 050 broilers was 20 06 cents
with a high of 22% cents.

versity of Arizona’s College of
Agriculture has made tests to
determine what kind of shade is
best and most economical for cat
tle.
Cattle under the aluminum
shade made the largest gain, fol
lowed by thatch, snow fence and
open pens. Although the steers
and heifers responded similarly
to the various types of shades,
the heifers were affected more
severely than steers by the lack
of shade
