Age is not onsidered if the barn is in sound ondition. But ion most farms the value >f the buildings is usually equal o the value of the land. There ore if the value of the house and ither outbuildings is found, the ;alue of the barn should be equal o that figure subtracted fiom the and value. - There are several factors taken into consideration when apprais ing land for assesment. Another effect, indirectly, will' be that records in the county ot tices will be brought up to date and made more usable. Still another eflect will be that a true value of the County can be determined. Although they are not property tax payers, schools, churches, state and federal prop-i erty, and the property of utilities' and rail lines will be assessed. One thing to remember when you are visited this spring and summer is that all county tax em ployees will be carrying identifi-’r cation cards bearing the county 1 seal. If you have any doubt as toi the identity of the persons to as sess you, ask to see this identifi cation. It is expected that some per sons will deny the assessing teams entry on to the farm or into build ings. In such a case, the team will make the best assessment possible on information they have and then up grade the assessment of the farm by one degree. The result is that that farmer probably would be taxed at a higher rate than his neighbors. He could then, of course, ask for ( a tax assessment hearing. , The assessment teams will not start visiting farms until assess ment of boroughs is complete. Present plans call for Lititz to be the first urban area to be re-as sessed. Complete plans, including areas and dates, have not been 1 formed. Allen H. Matz Ph. AN 7-6502 Denver Sander Bros. Ph.
