For Farm Show
Home Divisions
County homemakers who wish
to exhibit their handiwork at the
1958 Pennsylvania Farm Show
should be making plans now to
have their materials ready, advis
es Mrs Ruth K Kreibich, county
home economist.
There are many classes open in
foods, child development, cloth
ing and home improvement for 4-
H clubs, schools'and adults.
Arrangements have been made
to transport exhibits by truck
from Lancaster to Harrisburg. Ex
hibits may be left at the Farm
Burean Cooperative, DiUerville
Road, Lancaster, or at Newcom
er’s Hardware Store in Mt. Joy.
Home economics exhibits must be
at these two places by noon on
Friday, Jan. 10 Exhibitors who
wish to take entries to the Farm
Show must have them there by 6
p. m. on Jan. 11.
A general entry blank must ac
company all exhibits. One entry
blank should be made out for
each exhibit and attached to the
exhibit. They should be typed or
printed
Clothing exhibits must be care
fully marked with name, address
and class number in the following
manner- attach paper with infor
mation to inside hem of garment;
or belts, attach inside with tape
Clothing that has been worn
can be exhibited, but must be
clean and repaired if necessary.
Only exhibits listed in the
Farm Show catalog will be accept
ed No exhibitor may enter more
than one article in a class. All
food entries must have been can
ned in 1957 by the person exhibit
ing. Clothing and home improve
ment articles must have been
made in 1957.
Standard quart jars are to be
used for exhibiting fruits vege
tables and meats. Corn and peas
may be entered in either quart or
pint jars.
Pint jars are also to be used for
dried products and jelly glasses
with covers for jelly. Jellies not
in jelly glasses with covers and
fruits and vegetables not in stand
ard clear glass jars will not be ac
cepted.
Fancy packs are discouraged
since they require extra time
which definitely endangers the
keeping qualities of the product.
Also the judges will allow no ex
tra credit. If the liquid in canned
fruit is lower than two inches
fiom the top of the jar, it will
be disquadified.
No artificial coloring or preser
vative will be allowed.
Baked goods should be wrapp
ed individually in cellophane to
retain freshness until judging
time
Members of 4 H Clubs are be
ing notified by letter if their pro
jects are of sta‘ > show caliber.
The same general regualtions
apply to their entries.

RE THE CATTLE:
This public feeding test was conducted at the Norfolk;
Nebraska, stockyards. Heifers were started on feed Marcn
29, then divided just long enough to give one group «
single treatment with Purina’s new Cattle and Sheep
Wormer Concentrate. The feeding period ran 135 days..«

thermometer hovered around the 100-degree rnark. These
Nebraska feeder calves were all fed and handled exactly
alike on a ration of corn, Purina Special Steer ratena;
