Approves Herd Classification The October board meeting of the American Angus Assn, at St. Joseph, Mo., marked a histone occasion for the purebred bgef cattle industry. The Angus board iof directors unanimously ap proved the herd classification pro gram which it has been studying for many months.' It is the first time a major beef breed has un dertaken such a constructive pro gram on a nationwide basis. Herd classification by the Assn, will be voluntary and will be con ducted on registered cattle owned by its members. Officials feel that the program will not be started until some time in 1958. This will provide additional time to work out the mechanics of handling classification. Under the new herd classifi cation program, each breeding animal in the herd will have a uniform, unbiased rating, accord ing to type. As the years pass, these records will provide a fairly accurate check on herd progress. PROMPT, COURTEOUS SERVICE | ESBENSHADE TURKEY FARM | PARADISE, PA.
