NEPPCO Honors
Harvey Wood
At Exposition
HARRISBURG —Harvey Chase
Wood, noted poultry breeder and
industry leader in the Northeast,
was singled out for special honors
at the 20th exposition of the
Northeastern Poultry Producers
Council.
Focal point of the special
recognition program was the pres
entation of a bound volume of let
teis and mementos from more
than a hundred of Wood’s inti
mate friends both in and out
of the poultry industry
Six of these were present in a
surprise visit Each had amusing
anecdotes to relate about their
past associations with the poultry
leader Those participating were
Ernest H Kieser, Toledo, Ohio,
Carl B Bender, New York City,
Harvey Wood, Jr, Newton, N J ,
D C R Hoff, Neshanic Station,
N J , Edward S Bixler, Newton,
N J , and James C Wcsel, Rosc
mont, N J
In presenting Wood with the
special historical volume, Weisr-1
commented “In every age and in
every area, the world has found
men of leadership who have alt
ered the color of the warp and
wool of their time Such a person
is Harvey Chase Wood ’’
In recounting some of the high
spots from the industry leader’s
career, Weisel mentioned the
selection of one of Wood’s Light
Brahma’s as the model for a U.
S Postage Stamp, and his many
successful efforts in promoting in
dustry shows and events
Master of ceremonies for the
event was Phillip Alampi, New
'Jersey Secretary of Agriculture

1957, commercial production of
reel meat in this countiy totaled
16,855 million pounds according
to latest Crop Reporting Board
figures
