Announces Area HIR Record Completions A special report of the Hol stein-Friesian Assn, of America announces the completion of of ficial production records by seven Holstein cows in area herds. They are Mar Mar Wayne Pabst, owned by Everett E. & Louise J. Benjamin, Holtwood. The four year old cow produced 12,360 lbs. of milk and 548 lbs. of butterfat on twice a day milking in 279 days. The Pennsylvania State Uni versity supervised the weighing and testing of these records which compare with an annual production of only 5,815 lbs. of milk and 224 lbs. of butterfat by the average U. S. cow. The new records are part of the breed association’s Herd Improvement Registry, an official testing program designed to pro vide individual lactation and life time production records on every cow in participating herds. -‘Rabbits for Meat’ Is New Extension Course “Rbbits for Meat” is a course of nine lessons offered through the mail by Pennsylvania State University. It deals with manage ment of rabbits for meat pur poses. Instruction is given on breed selection, housing, equipment, feeding, care and breeding. Dis eases and pests are also covered in the lessons as well as killing, skinning and marketing. The course is free to residents of Pennsylvania but no regular university credit is given for its completion. Roy Decker, former county agricultural agent, is the author.
