Prices paid Thursday were Broilers, 18% to 19 cents, aver age 18.58 cents for 22 lots (89,- 760 birds); capettes, 23% cents, for two lots (574 birds); Leg horns, 13% cents for a lot of 3,000 birds; and 20% cents for, one lot of 750 pullets. £ year ago 11 lots totaling 19,- 450 birds sold at the Tuesday auction at prices ranging from 21% to 23 cents, averaging 22% cents on nine lots totaling 18,- 950 broilers One lot, 400 heavy 'fowl, sold at 26 cents, and one Jot of 100 heavy cockerels brou ght 22% cents. Although ■trading oh slaughter steers was more active than the previous weeks prices were weak to 50 cents lower than last Wednesday, heifers also steady to 50 cents lower. Cows mostly steady except some top cutter, utility and com mercial grades around 25 cents lower. Bulls mostly steady. Stock er and feeder trading was slow with prices mostly steady. The three-day supply , comprised around 55 per cent stockers and feeders and 12 per cent cows. Heifers and bulls in moderate supply. , Bulk of the slaughter steers graded good to average choice. Most choice fed steers 1,000- 1,200 lbs $20.50-22, with some choice 1,250-1,378 lb. steers $19.50-21.50.
