Game Commission records
show that many persons have re
cently been prosecuted tor the
illegal killing or possessing of
deer in closed season. Some of
the guilty appeared surpnsed at
learning there was more than a
cash penalty or jail sentence in
volved. The law provides that
when big game has been killed
in closed season
1. It shall be mandatory that
anyone hunting, killing, wound
ing, tianspoitmg, concealing, or
having in possession a deer taken
in closed season shall lose his
hunting and tiappmg privileges
for three years.
2 It shall be mandatory that
anyone found guilty of hunting,
killing or attempting to kill,
possess, etc, a' bear in closed
season shall lose his hunting and
trapping privileges tor five years.
Cash penalties remain at $lOO
for each deer and S2OO for each
bear illegally killed or possessed,
in or out of season, or one day m
jail for every-dollar of costs and
fine imposed.
