Farm Women Society No 17
held their October meeting at
the home of Mis Ella Eckhn
Wednesday evening last week in
the form of a Hallowe’en Party.
Each came masked and members
were identified.
Mrs Ella Eckhn, hostess, read
scripture from Psalm 23. Mrs.
Pearl Wenger and Mrs. Sarah
Anknum were co-hostesses. The
president, Mrss. Elsie Marron,
urged members to be present at
the convention next month at
Manheim Twp school.
Officers for the coming year
were elected as follows: Presi
dent Mrs." Stanley Stauffer;
vice-president, Mrs. Harry
Ankrium; secretary, Mrs. Ella
Ecklin; treasurer, Mrs. Landis
Kreider; corresponding secre
tary, Mrs. Bertha Johnson.
During the coming year Soci
ety No 17 will entertain Society
No. 18, and Society No. 17 will
be entertained by-Society No. 4.
The society will assist in fold
ing Christmas Seals Nov. 2 at
Lancaster. The persons to help
are: Mrs Katherine Kreider,
Mrs Elaine Cutler, Mrs Grace
Pollock and Mrs Cleta Rineer.
Two wheel chairs have been
purchased with the donations
from the county societies.

ety to go along on the bus trip

Pony Club Event

year-old son of Mr. and Mrss
Paul Z Martin, Blue Ball, Satur
day afternoon led a field of 28
to place first in the first show
and roundup of the Boots and
Saddles 4H Light Horse and
Pony Club at the' Martin Sales
Stables Grounds in Blue Ball.
Riding Topper, whom he has
owned two years, the second
grade student at Blue Ball
School placed first in three
events; m class, 1, lead line
pony; class 28, pony class to
be ridden by children 12 years
and under; and Class 14, open
pony roadster class.
Topper came to Blue Ball
about two yeais ago, young Paul
advises, fiom Indiana.
' Originated in April, the Boots
and Saddles 4H Club now has 24
members Saturday afternoon
they were out in all their trim
mings and tiappings, to compete
against brotheis and sisters and
other members
One of the highlights of the
show was a white pair shown by
Richard Scott Buckwalter, R 1
Stevens, and his brother Larry.
Officials included Roger
Halsted, livestock extension
specialist from the Pennsyl
vania State University, present
to select winners for 4H state
competition; Stuart R. H. Raub,
judge, from Lancaster; Henry
Tort, announcer, Lancaster,
and Ralph Kurtz Denver, Ring
master. County Agent Max M.
Smith was also on hand help
ing with the show, and Mr.

of Georgetown entertained Socie
ty 23 of Millersville "at a baked
ham and covered dish supper,
Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Mid
dle Octoraro Chapel.
After dinner the meeting was
called to order by Piesident
Helen Reinhart, then there were
devotions led by Bertha Harmsh;
prayer by Miriam Crouse; Flag
Salute, roll call was on “Your
Trip This Summer” which visi
tors responded to.
Eight dollars and sixty cents
was sent to The United Commun
ity Chest Fund, $5 00 to wheel
chair fund at the Lancaster Gen
eral Hospital, cards and flowers
were sent to the sick.
The Entertainment Committee
had planned a reading by Frances
Keen, a guessing game on ten
old tunes by Mrs. Walter Russell,
other guessing games were play
ed and prizes given.
The next meeting will be held
Wednesday, Nov. 14, 7:00 p m.
at the Chapel. There will be a
covered dish supper and a pov
eity party with family Hostesses
will be Annie Graham, Harriet
Graham and Esther Erb.
