the Young Company, Kmzer, on

A feature of this reunion will
he a large display of steam en
gines, many of them still in oper
ation, which were used extensive
ly for threshing and sawmilling
many years ago.
Threshing contests will be held
during the three-day affair, as
well as a hobby show
A memorial service will- be
held on Saturday, Aug 18, at 10
a m for the late Arthur S.
Young, Kmzer, Who formed the
association.
The association has been in
corporated and plans are under
way to erect a building for the
permanent display of the old
steam engines
Officers state that this will be a
living memorial to the late Mr.
Young.

In a new competition to
select America’s “Farm Maid of
1956,” the first entrant is 18-
year-old Helen Hollenbach,
Strausstown.
The “Miss Reading Fair”
beauty contest, now in its 11th
year, has attracted three early
candidates. They are:
Mary Jane Mangier, Phila
delphia, 18-year-old profes
sional tap dancer, who is “Miss
Philadelphia of 1956;” Harriet
L. Krauss, Spring City, 21-year
old stenographer, Evansburg;
and Eileen S. Dotterer,l6-year
old 11th grade student at Wil
son High School, West Lawn. .
Although both contests are
open to single and married
women anywhere in the world,
none of the early entrants is
married.
Must Live On Farm
One of the provisions of the
Farm Maid competition is that
contestants must reside On a
farm and Miss Holleribach’s
entry states she is a resident
of the Blue Mountain View
Farms.
Purpose of the farm» maid
contest, a new feature at the
fair, is to find a farmerette be
tween the ages of 16 and 25
who has superior skills in
threa phases of farm work
needlework, pie baking and
hand milking.

age restriction in the Miss
Reading Fair beauty contest is
that girls must have reached
their 16th birthdays by Sep. 1,
this year.
Closing date for entries in the
Farm Maid competition is Aug.
31; in the beauty contest,
Sept. 1.
As a general rule, it is extre
mely difficult to settle the pro
blems of peoples living hundreds
of miles away, although many
of us continue to try it.

Governor George Leader.
In a ceremony in the Gover
nor’s office, Gosart was award
ed a gold lapel pin and the
PMTA citation attesting /his
driving ability and safety rec
ord. Governor Leader thanked
Gosart for his personal contri
bution to safer highway opera
tions and lauded him as a good
citizen. Both Gosart and 'his
wife received watches from
Mushroom Transportation Com
pany of Philadelphia, Gosart’s
employer.
Gosart accounted for 850;000
miles -of his record during the
past 14 years as an employee of
the Mushroom Transportation
Company. During this period he
drove a tractor semi-trailer in
over-the-road service between
Williamsport, Pennsylvania and
Buffalo, New York with no /ac
cidents Previous to thus, -Gos
art was employed for four years
by M & G Convoy, driving a oar
starrier out of Buffalo and added
