- Raise Own Crops
“Clove Creek Farm covers
about 400 acres in southern
Dutchess County, New York,”
Mr Roosevelt told Lancaster
Farming. Mention Dutchess
County to any cattleman, his
eyes will light up, for from here
Come some of the nation’s finest.
“It’s 20 miles south of father’s
old home' at Hyde Park,” he con
tinued, “and is primarily Polled
Hereford. We raise our own
corn, grass silage, much
oats and corn as we can to feed
pur herd.”
“I started with Polled Here
fords six years ago, and my
senior herd sire is a grandson
of CMR Rollo Domino 12th,”
Mr. Roosevelt added “He’s Gold
Mischief Domino 11th, by CMR

“Cows in my herd came from
Advance Domino primarily, the
noted Hillcrest - Larry Domino

Aftermath Of Blizzard
Many accidents were caused by snow and ice resulting
from the blizzard which nearly paralyzed traffic Sunday a
week ago. Shown above is a large tractor-trailer which

Hereford association sales ” he
told the night before sale when
two of his heifers sold to Maine,
two to Delaware These mellow,
yellow heifers were not fitted,
but were well bred
“Rijpft now I have about 140
head of cattle, practically at the
peak of what farm will handle,”
he told.
New York Champion
But one of the best records,
m his opinion, is that where
CloVe Creek showed the state
champion bull in New York
state, when it stood well up in
ait classes at the Eastern States
Exposition in Springfield, in
couh.ty and regional fairs
throughout New York, New
Jersey—and Dutchess County,
where over 80 head were shown
in' the county show.

To Mr Moore, as he advised
Lancaster Farming, the pure
bred cattle business in the East
is a* bit new, “and correct man
agement must be impressed in
peopled minds, there’s a need
for business experience here ”
Good business experience, one
might add, such as was exem
plified in Monday’s sale of the
EPHA.
"Prices there didn’t equal those
Mr Moore has experienced, in
fact one of his bulls sold for
almost $14,000 more than all 50
head totaled in Monday’s auc
tion, a $47,000 record m the
breed at the time.
In the Hereford Register of
Value, CMR stands on top. Look
at this record, as furnished by
Mr- Moore; In 1954, CMR aver
aged $5,061 on its Palled Here
ford bulls; in Feb. this yeap, the
sale of bulls averaged $4,228. A'
year ago, the nation’s Polled
Hereford sales were topped by
Mr. Moore’s CMR average of
$4,878.
For 14 years, Circle M has
gone on to greater honors in the
sale rang and show ring. Circle
M’s influence has spread this
prizewinning, money - making
blood into 38 states and nine
foreign nations. In its 15th year,
CMR may again lead the herd,
the Polled Hereford herd.
