    Farm Women 15 Plan
April 10 Luncheon^
Due to the, weekend blizzard,
Society of Farm Women 15 has
postponed its luncheon at Middle
Octorara Church until Tuesday
April 10. Originally scheduled
for last Wednesday noon, 150
reservations were received.
Mrs. George Rinehart, chair
man of the ways and means com
mittee, and Mrs. Chester Collins,
are in charge of arrangements.

Entertain 14
Of Society 16
Farm Women’s Society 18 en
tertained 14 members of Society
16 at a luncheon Saturday in the
Farm Bureau Building on Diller
ville Road in Lancaster. *
Mrs. Raymond Stoner presided
at the meeting and Mrs. Sterling
Elmer had charge of devotions.'
Roll call was answered with a
safety hint.
Christian_H. Shenk spoke and
showed slides of his trip to
Europe last fall. Mrs. Martin
Strickler, Jr., sang several Irish
songs, accompanied by Mrs. Mel
vin Hess.
The Society sewed at the Lan
caster General Hospital Thurs
day, and a bus trip to Washing
ton, D. C. is planned for Satur
day, April 14. Mrs. Raymond
Stoner will take charge of re
servations.
The April meeting will be in
the social rooms of the Rohrers
town Reformed Church. Mrs. Wil
liam Shelton and Mrs. Noah Getz
will be hostesses, according to
Mrs. T. Hershey Rohrer, East
Petersburg.

Farm Women 16 Record Resolution
Honoring Mrs. Katie E.JVlatthews
At a recent meeting, the Soci
ety of Farm Women No. 16 pass
ed a resolution, in honor of Mrs.
Thomas J. (Katie Eshelman)
Matthews, Quarryville, who with
her husband and Mrs. Clay
Woerth of Nickel Mines, were
killed in a January auto crash
in Kentucky
On the committee composing
the resolution were Mrs Frances
B. Keene and Mrs Lillian Hanna.

Number 16 wish to record the
death of one of . their members,
Mrs. Katie Eshelman Matthews,
who departed this Me January
28,_ 1956. She was the wife of
Thomas J. Matthews, whose life
was'also taken in the same auto
mobile accident in the State of
Kentucky.
Mrs Matthews’ untimely death
leaves a vacancy that is keenly
felt, not only by her relatives,
her friends, her church, but in
Society of Farm
Women 8 To Meet
April 21, Mt. Joy
Society of Farm Women 8 will
held their next meeting April 21
at the EUB Church social rooms,
Mt. Joy, with Society 2 as guests
The society met Saturday, St.
Patrick’s Day, at the home of
Mrs. Roy Greider near Mt. Joy.
Devotions were in charge of Mrs
Curvin Martin. Response to roll
-call was “This Is the Time to—.”
Piano selections were given by
Mrs Charles Shank, and a talk
on “Children of Kentucky” was
given by Miss Ruth Frankhauser,
former missionary to Redbird
Mission, Ky.
During the business session it
was decided that the members
would sew paiamas for Rossmere
Sanatorium, and make a contri
bution to the Cancer Society.
Refreshments were served by
the hostesses. Mrs. Roy Greider,
Mrs Clarence Greider, Mrs. Cur
vin Martin and Mrs. Charles
Shank.

Entertain in
April Meeting
Society of Farm Women 2 met
in the home of Mrs. John Doucte,
Manheim R 2, on Saturday, March
10th at 2 p. m with the presi
dent, Mrs. Roy Shelly in charge.
Mrs. Meisenhelder of the Com
munity Nursing Service was the
speaker and explained the nurs
ing service to the ladies of Soci
ety No. 2.
A donation of $5 was voted to
the Cancer society. Each one
present brought food for a needy
family and this was delivered to
the Manheim family, following
the meeting.
The ladies answered the roll
call by naming their favorite
dessert The April meeting will
be in the Penryn Fire Hall when
the society will entertain Society

caster County Home Wednesday,
March 14 Most recent meeting
of the group was March 1 at the
home of Mrs. Eugene Bare, R 1

Society 9 Will
Collect Juices
Again in April
Another collection of juices
for Heart Haven will be made
during April by the Society of
Farm Women 9, it was announc
ed today. The next meeting will
be April 28 with Mrs. Margaret
Hagen, Rawlinsville, as hostess,
with Mrs. Mary Bindley and Mrs.
Florella Prowell as co-hostesses.
The Society met Saturday and
held its food sale at the home of
Mrs. Dean Breneman, R 1 Cones
toga. There it was reported a col
lection of fruit juices had fieen
made, but the collection will be
One hundred and
forty-four cancer pads were hand
ed in, and a sewing date was set
for Thursday, April 5, at 7.30
with Mrs Helen Zercher, Martic
ville.
It was reported 30 went by bus
from the Society to the Phila
delphia Flower show.
Members also heard that a
new adoptive for the Society has
been selected in Calcutta, India,
smcb Tarlotta. the previous
charge, has left the orphange to
be married. A new girl, Grace
Hazel, five years old, has- been
named as Tarlotta’s replacement
