CATTLE. 2540, week ago 3050;
Local receipts were reduced
from a week ago but the 12
unfcjor western markets opened
the week with about 15,000 more
cattle than the pnvious tveek
As trading began buyers were
already complaining of, heavy
stocks of carcass beef and the
dressed beef trade opened the
week draggy with a sharply
lower trend. Slaughter steers on
the local market were in for
trouble pricewise fiom the very
start and prices worsened as
trading progressed By Wednes

and Prime 1150 lbs and lighter,
(were 25-50 c lower, others 75c-l 00
lower than late last week Par

of Pequea celebrated their 54th
wedding anniversary Feb- 5. Mrs.
Cramer, the former Mary Eliza
beth Douits, is now 75 years
young. Mr. Cramer, 83, 'and his
wife are both in good health.
According to Mrs. Harold Herr,
Pequea, a daughter, there, are
six children, 15 grandchildren
and four great grandchildren

Farming and still works half a
day,” Mrs Herr reports-

Thursday with 86,700 broilers lis
ted, offerd and sold at the poultry
auction here. Thirty-two lots
were on the market, of which
74,375 head were broilers selling
from 22% to 25% cents per lb.
Topping the market was. Martin
H Weaver, R 3 Ephrata, with
3100 Red Vantress selling at 25%
to Roy E Ream. New Holland
Two lots of Barred Crosses sold
at 22%, and all broilers aver
aged 24 50 Three lots, totaling
11,700 capettes, sold at 24%, and
two lots 'of heavy fowl, 625 head,
sold from 27% to 30% /
For the corresponding day a
year ago, Thursday, Feb 3, 1955,
there were 25 lots, a total of
91,250 birds offered, 18 lots of
70,850 selling from 26% to 27%,
