Problems of the poultry trade
and suggestions for improving
marketing procedures were pre
sented by a panel of nine experts
at the annual, meeting, of the Da 07
caster ‘'County Poultry Exchange;
late last week. The meeting was
in the Rohrerstown Elementary
School
“The Mechanics of Poultry
Marketing” was the topic. A
quality bird must be marketed
to build up poultry sales to meet
competition offered by beef and
pork. Hermati Bloom of the Bird-
Ip-Hand Poultry Co, represent
ing the wholesale trade, and
Herman M. Cook, representing
chain stores, told.

About 250 attended the meet
ing and heard iMrs. Clara Kopf,
exchange secretary, report that
from 50to 70 per cent of the 30
accredited buyers are active and'
an average of 645 growers listed
birds an average of three times
each- last year.
Hast year the Exchange hand
led nearly five million birds in
1.962 lots, and for the year and
a half the Exchange has been m
operation, the number is well
over six million. An increase of
452,000 birds in the last four
months was reported in com
paring last year ‘with 1954.
