PRODUCED AND SOLD BY
SOMEDAY YOU MAY “SUNBURN" THE MEAL— Actress
Eleanor Bender believes in making hay while the sun shines—she
profits from a newly developed aluminum solar cooker which will
do this roast to a turn while she’s sunbathing m Hollywood, Calif.
Sheets on top focus sun’s rays-on a heat-collecting panel which
raises oven temperature sufficiently to roast meat or bake a cake.
Hundreds of scientists recently attended symposiums at Phoenix
and Tucson, Ariz., to discuss harnessing of the sun’s energy to
perform mankind’s chores. Scientists caution that solar energy
harnessed for power-producing purposes will only supplement,
not replace, more conventional power sources.

Care of Lawns Topic
At Bailsman Meeting
Good, vigorous green turf adds
iri&t only attractiveness .but value
to a home, Harry S. Sloat, as-*
sedate Lancaster County Agricul
tural Agent, told a group of
people meeting Monday night at
Ithe Bausman Fire Hall.
,A. E. Cooper, turf specialist
from Pennsylvania State Univer
sity offered advice on care and
management of lawns. Sponsors
of the meeting were the Lan
caster Twp. Civic Assn., and the
Bausman Fire Company, who
(have combined efforts to improve
community lawn beauty.
Heavy root growth to carry
grasses through winter months is
very necessary, the .group was
told, and this in turn stimulates
early growth in spring and
smothers weeds before they have
a chance to start.
