If you ask one hundred students on cam-
pus to name the biggest problem they have
with Penn State Mont Alto, chances are at
least ninety of them will say that this campus
is boring. Empty parking lots during the
weekend and students constantly complain-
ing about “how boring Mont Alto is.” For
the past two years shows that students need
occasional breaks from work and a chance to
let loose and have fun. Fortunately spring
break is right around the cor-
ner.
After two months of hard work, there isn’t
anybody on campus who is not looking for-
ward to a week away from studies, books
tests and professors. Since high school
spring break has consistently been possibly
the most hyped about part of the long rigor-
ous school year. The most classic spring
the best way to get the most out of your
spring break depends on what you are look-
ing to get out of it. For example, if you are

tired and exhausted from the school year and
laxing quiet week in Florida or the Carib-
bean with a few close friends would proba-
bly be best. Then again, if you are happy
with how well you have been doing for the
year and feel you need to be rewarded, then
you should go ahead a live it up partying as
hard as you can since you will not have an-
other vacation for a long time. What most
people do not do, myself included, is to stay
caught up with school work. Spending thirty
minutes a day early on before your “night”
has started will not make your vacation any
less fun but at the same time, keep you
caught up with your studies avoiding more
stress once you return to classes.
A common problem with college students
for spring break is expenses. It is very diffi-
cult for a student to be able to afford a week-
long vacation across the country. Some ways
to cut costs down is to bring a lot of friends
to wherever you go. If you drive for instance
across the country and have four or five peo-
ple in the car who can contribute to gas ex-
penses, it will be a lot lighter on the drivers
pocket. Hotel costs would also be a lot
cheaper if you are sharing a room with nu-
merous people. Big cities also tend to be a
lot more inexpensive then people realize.
Studentuniverse.com shows a list of all the
major cities around the world and what there
is to do in them. Plan out everything you
would like to do, trying to find activities that
are less expensive such as beach parties, and
avoid unnecessary spending as best you can.
There are always a lot of great things to do
during spring break. In Miami, they have
paint parties where you come in your bathing
suit, get covered in paint and have a party.
Everywhere has special activities such as
this. All you have to do is decide what you
want to get out of your spring break, and
plan out what you want to do properly.
