People run for nu- merous reasons such as wishing this semester are finding new ways to promote themselves to the student body in order to gain a positive image or influence. Some of Freshman Timothy Stroman’s voters have taken the initiative by putting a flyer on their door asking to vote for Stro- man who is running for presi- the students or leaving an im- pression on the campus. Whatever the reason may be, the competition this semester seems to be fierce as Freshmen Michael Chang, Alyssa Lee Politi, and Adriana Santamaria can be seen campaigning in the Commuter Parking Lot for a po- sition on the SGA. [Michael] Francis, [current SGA President], will be going up to University Park and someone needs to take over and I can’t be him but I can definitely try to take his spot.” Freshman Adriana San- tamaria, who is running for Com- munications Coordinator and is for us to actually pay attention to what people say about events and to maybe incorporate the ones they like for next year. Also, we could create new ones that peo- ple would be interested in to make Mont Alto more profi- cient.” Adriana had commented on her competitor, Freshman Alyssa Lee Politi, stating “she Alyssa Lee Politi the campaign. She’s been really into it and has put in a lot of ef- fort. I think she has a lot to offer to the SGA and for everyone.” Alyssa states that she “can’t come up with any good response for the current SGA because they haven’t impacted the lives of its Shonna Graham students so far which tells me it needs drastic reformation.” She states that if she gets elected into the position of Communications Coordinator, she would use her voting power “to best represent what the stu- dent population wants.” Four of the six prospective applicants to the SGA have been spreading the news about the election by putting or giving away flyers, through word of mouth or online means. Freshman Shonna Graham, who is running for C.A.M.P. chair, states that she “wishes to make great campus activities that are not only educational but also fun. I wish to be part of the ex- perience and hope- Ashka Patel fully, I will see Mont Alto grow to be a better community.” She feels that the current SGA “has been doing their part and 1 feel that it shows regarding what goes on campus. I think our president is doing a great job and I hear that he is very active. I know we're going to have a new presi- dent and I’m really excited and hopefully, I'll be part of the changes in Mont Alto.” Freshman Ashka Patel, who is running for Treasurer and is currently a senator, says that she wants “to be part of the SGA Ex- ecutive Board because it’s a leadership position and through the experience, I wish to sharpen the attributes that a good leader possesses. I hope that I have all of your support because I'm a well equipped SGA Treasurer if you allow me to be.” Whoever gets elected into the SGA for next year will go be- yond the call of duty to best rep- resent the student body and to promote communication between them and the faculty and staff.
