SOFTBALL RUMS FOR THE 1954 SOFTBALL SE./SON
1. A team shall field nine men,
2. A team roster shall not exceed the twelve man limit.
3. Additions or replacements a.an be made only with unanimous consent„
14.6 A game shall consist of seven innings.

It shall be a regulation game if it be called by the umpire on account of
darkness, rain, etc o provided five or more innings have been played" (Four
and a half if the team bats last is ahead*
7, PITCHING: Preliminary to pibching the pitcher shall come to a full stop, facing
batter, ball held in both hands in front of body, at least one foot on the rubber *
b. In act of delivering the ball to batter, the pitcher shall not take more than
one step, which must be forward, toward the batter:,
co A legal delivery shall be a ball which is delivered to the batter underhand and
with a follow-through of hand and wrist past the straight line of the body * Pitcher
may use any wind-up he desires but in final delivery the hand shall be below the
hip, and the wrist not farther from the body than the elbow° ca ch
8 6 There shall be no stealing and no lead-off o The base runner is out in , .case *
9, A base-runner may leavebase after ball has left pitchorb hand but must keturn
unless the batter hits to fair territory, Base runner can be tagged out in re
turning to base,
10. Batter is automatically out and may not advance to first if catcher drops a
third strike.
11. Base-runners may not advance on a passed ball at home plate, They may advance
one base on overthrow at Ist and 3rd if ball goes into foul territory, There is no
limit if ball is in fair territory,
12 6 Infield fly rule does apply,
13. Bunting is Permitted *
14. Each umpire shall call plays at Ist and 2nd for three and a half innings.
Plate umpire calls decisions at 3rd and home,
15 # No decisions of the umpires may be appeared unless misinterpretation of Rules.
16 4 Games will start at 5:15; called at 5:25 if a full team is not represented.
17 * Time will be decided by umpires and their watch,
18. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are designated playing days.
