Vol. XVI, No. 17 STUDENT COUNCIL PUBLICIZES IDEA OF STUDENT UNION BUILDING FOR HIGHACRES Members of Student Council voted unanimously, at the regularly scheduled meet ing, lhodteedwy, to publicize the idea of a Student Union Building to students not familiar with the plan. The idea of a Student Union Building, which originated in Student Council, was recommenddd as the result of the passing of a formal motion at the meeting held January 13. This recommendation stated that the Student Council "is in favor of a new Student Union Building and an additional assessment not to ex ceed $5.00 per student per semester, pending approval of the student body." If approved by the student body, such a move would have to be approved and probably underwritten by main campus authority. Because of the time consumed negotiating this plan in conjunction with campus authority, the students presently enrolled would not receive the daily benefit from such a Student Union Building, but on the other hand they would not be assessed for it. Council members are now drawing up a referendum and will circulate it in order to find out the opinion of the students.
