(cont'd General Graduation Requirements for LIaIRAL ART 3TUDENTS)
The following stipulations are intended to clarify the general
requirements for graduation:
(1) The twelve required credits in the social sciences (I,e„ in'
economics, political science, and sociology) shall be distri
buted as follows: six credits in one field and three credits
in each of the other two fields..
Of the six required creCits of literature, three must be in
English or American Literature; the remaining three maybe in
foreign literature in English translation, or in English or
American literature, or in comparative Literature.
The twelve required credits in science or mathematics must be
taken in not fewer than two of the following three fields:
(a) physics, chemistry, geology; (b) botany and zoology; (c) ma'
matics. At least six creCits must be taken in one of these
subjects, *The science courses must involve laboratory work,

The requirement of twelve credits in a foreign language maybe
fulfilled either by course work or by examination. In any event s
the student must complete satisfactorily the fourth semester's
work in one foreign language (ancient or modern).
The art—music requirement may be completed by taking six credits
in one field or three credits in each.
Every student must satisfy the English Usage Committec by the
end of the fourth semester as to his proficiency in composition.
Failure to do so will moan dismissal from the Student Scholastic
Standing Coumitto to place the student on probation.
Beginning in the Fall Term 1952 no course in which the
earns a grade lover than "1" maybe counted towards the
ment of the major requirements.
