EXTRA Vol. XI. No. 12 JUNE 27 REGISTRATION DAY FOR SIX-WEEKS SUMMER SCHOOL The Hazleton Center will conduct a six-weeks summer session beginning June 27 and extending to August 7. Registration will be held Monday, June 27, between 9 a. m. and 5 p. m. In addition to courses listed below, any other course, providing a minim um of ten students is interested, will be offered. Five students have requested admission of Math 84. If five more register for the course it will be given. The courses offered are: Chem 4 and 20, English Comp 0,1, and 5, English Lit. 25, Educa tion 1, History 21, Math 0 and 64, Pol. Sci. 3, Psy 2, and Speech 200. Any student who wishes to attend summer school on the campus and in tends to return to the Hazleton Cen ter in the fall, must receive written permission from Mr. Frank Kostos. Civic Day One Of Work and Fun In order to make the Center's fu ture campus, Highacres, neat and at tractive the Student Council has planned a Civic Day. This particular day is planned to permit the student body to unite and contribute their time and efforts towards an after noon of combined work and pleasure. It was decided that Saturday, May 14, would be an appropriate day for this event. Students are asked to ap pear at the Walnut Street Building at 2 p.m. that afternoon. Transporta tion will be provided, but those who own vehicles may travel alone. It would be wise to dress appropriately for the occasion. If the entire student body would pour their support wholeheartedly into this event it would undoubtedly prove very successful and would be an afternoon long remembered. OFFER ART COURSE FOR SUMMER SCHOOL A tentative art class, to be held out-of-doors during the summer ses sions at Highacres, will be offered if ten or more students sign up for the class. The time for the class will be ar ranged according to the students' schedule. Students may work either in water colors or oil. Most of these classes will be held in the scenic locality of Highacres and promises to be both interesting and enjoyable. Here is a chance to enjoy the summer weather while at tending summer sessions. Those interested should give their names to Mr. Frank Kostos or Mr. Arthur Carpenter. Failing Grades Mailed Twelfth week failing grades and warning notices have been mailed to parents of students whose grades are not up to standard. Advisees should see advisers. Collegian, EDDIE KARPEE'S ORC PLAY AT DOUBLE FEATUR- Eddie Karpee and his dance band will provide the music for the Fifth Annual May Queen Coronation and ball set to roll tonight at 8 p. m. at St. John's Hall, North Wyoming Street. Paul Pucillo, general dance ar rangements chairman, announced that dancing is scheduled to begin approximately 9 p.m., or as soon af ter the Coronation ceremonies as possible and will continue until mid night. The Coronation is sponsored by the Women's Organization under the direction of Miss Margaret Wood, Dean, and President Millie Maczkov. The Queen, Doris Bartol, will be crowned by the wife of the adminis trative head, Mrs. Amos Goss. Junior attendants will be Patty Anne Goss and Donna Pavone, both daughters of faculty members. Flow er girls will be Mary Krecker, daugh ter of Mr. Ralph Krecker, and Anya rita Martyak. Honor Arch Nancy Dißonifazio, Millie Macz kov, Nancy Baran and Grace Heppe will carry the Honor Arch. Hemlock Chain The Hemlock Chain will consist of Anita Goldberg, Jeanne McGrory, Marcia Patterson, Dolores Kobrick, Jean Lovrinic, Nancy Byorick, Joyce Schofield, Mildred Romanell, Marilyn Rosenberg, Ursoline Imbriac, Helen Gregory, Jeanete Formolo and Doris Harting. Miss Bartol's Court is composed of Mary Lou Pollock, maid of honor; Joan Eidleman and June Reinmiller, sophomore attendants; Dolores Mc- Gee and Janet Szutowicz, freshman attendants; Rita Mikula, crown bearer; Mary Ellen McHugh, heart bearer; Margaret Kohler, scroll bearer; and Mary Claypotch, key bearer. Miss Marion Joy Bonn will be mu sic accompanist for the ceremony. Arrangements for the dance and Coronation were made by the Student Activities Board. Transfer Questionnaires Students who plan to transfer to the campus are required to fill out questionnaire forms which can be ob tained in the office. These forms must be picked up and mailed to the Center before May 10. Geologists Visit Cave Hobson Zerbe's geology classes made their customary trip to Crystal Cave last Tuesday. Crystal Cave is near Kutztown in Berks County. The subterranean phenomenon is famous for its abundance of aragonite. cal city and quartz metal. •Watch for the Center Punch ay 6, 1949,
