70l 5, There is an old proverb that states that it is not the result of the game that counts, but the way the game is played# Last Tuesday evening our basketball team lost to the Y.M.C.A, team of Freeland by the overwhelming score of 70-13, TIM s in itself was not a disgrace; but the fact that in the writeup of the game in one of the local papers, the boys substituted the names of some of their classmates in the boxscore this was the disgraceful part of the entire matter. There are two sides to this story. First, the team that played was a patch ed-up lineup, bacause only six men (four J - V's ) showed up for the game, Second, these boys did not want to take all the blame for the ignominious defeat. To these reasons there are two i*©- *. plies, FIRST- To the varsity; if you don’t have enough interest in the team to show up for your regularly scheduled games, you shouldn’t bother to play at all, .SECOND— To the J - V's who played the game;'if you did your best, don’t be ashamed of yourselves. If you can't take defeat as well as victory, let the fel lowi whose names you used plajr the game. They couldn't have done much worse. Finally our long- awaited ping-pong tournament has gotten under way. In fact, when you read this, paper, it will probably be over and the new Ping-Pong King will be known. Half of the contestants have already played up to the quarter-finals in which Miles Bonner and Sidney K-lemow partici pated, Sidney Kiemow, the winner, is anxiously awaiting the semi-finals, and I don't blame him because ho has already had his name inscribed on the trophy twice. Half of the contestants have not yet reached the quarter-finals, but if you will allow me to predict who will compete with Sidney Kiemow in the semi-finals, I would say that Charles Bruch will be the lucky one, Anyhow, here's luck to Kiemow and his unknown competitor.
