Improvement Club Formed
And Officers Elected
As a result of several projects
worked in the Engl. Comp. 4 class
last semester, a Center Improve
ment Club was formed. Miss Dor
othy Muck, and Miss Edna Saby,
were elected as advisers. The pur
pose of this club is to beautify the
campus.
The officers of this club are:
president, Chris Skoff; vice-pres
ident, Thomas Bolton; secretary
treasurer, George Kline.
Fourteen sophomores signified
their attention of becoming charter
members. The freshmen are heart
ily urged to join this club because
it is through them, ultimately, that
the plans of the club can be
realized.
Classes Elect Officers
To Replace Old Ones
Elections were held last week to
fill the vacancy in the Student
Council created by David Yeakel
and Anthony Persico, who are not
enrolled for the second semester.
Angelo Lucadamo was elected
president of Sophomore class and
automatically became the president
of the Student Council.
Frank Veneroso was elected
president of the Freshman class.
This also makes him a member of
the Student Council.

Class Does Research Work
The students of the Sociology
class of the Penn State Center are
doing research work on economic
and social conditions ol Hazleton.
They are gathering statistics about
the number of church members of
the community and the financial
conditions of the various churches,
schools, and newspapers.
Reading Trip Was Success

In the afternoon the co-eds vis
ited the Narrow Fabrirc Company
and saw how rick rack, shoe laces,
and tape are made. Each one was
given a sample of regular sized
cord rick rack. Meanwhile the men
toured the Textile Machine Works.
The girls then returned to the
Polytechnic Institute, where they
received autographs and the names
and addresses of the W. P. I.
students.
At 3:00 p. m. the students and
faculty went to the Reading Mu
seum and Art Gallery where they
were given a talk by Dr. Earl E.
Poole.
For dinner in the evening, they
went to the cafeteria of the Read
ing Y. M. C. A., and at 8:00 p. m.
attended a basketball game between
H.U.C. and W.P.I.
As soon as the game ended, the
group returned home. They arrived
in Hazleton at midnight.

Joins Junior College Group
The Hazleton Undergraduate
Center is nosy a full-fledged mem
ber of the Association of Junior
Colleges.
Three articles about this Center
are found in the February and
March issues of the Junior College
Journal. In February issue one ar
ticle concerns the Center’s glass
exhibit and the other, the Centers as
a whole. In the March issue an ar
ticle discussed the guidance pro
gram at the Hazleton Under
graduate Center.

the Hazleton Chapter of the Mil
itary Order of the Purple Heart at
their fifth annual banquet, which
was held at the Altamont Hotel.
His speech was broadcast over the
local station, WAZL.
NYA List Increased
The National Youth Administra
tion of the Hazleton Undergraduate
Center has added three more mem
bers to its growing list now total

At the end of the semester five
