Circle K Gives Support to the Community

Circle K has has had its hands full this
year, from an inactive beginning to a continu
ous pace they have set the tone for future clubs
next year. They had dedicated their time in
various activities throughout the semester,
such as walking dogs at the local animal shel
ter. They had the Hazleton community in their
annual Funfest, where many members gave
numerous amounts of hours and time.
They also had fund raisers within their
club, such as candy sales, to raise money for
thing that their club needed. Throughout the

Student Union Board Ends a Promising Year

Looking back at their accomplishments,
members of the Student Union Board cannot
help but feel proud of this past year’s activities.
They are also excited about next term’s pro
grams within the organization.

holidays they sang at the local nursing homes
to brighten up the patientss holiday spirits;
then, acted as Big Brothers and Big Sisters in
a Christmas party. They participated in chap
eroning YMCA Teen Dances.
Even after giving their selfand time for
all these things they wanted to contribute even
more time and effort by selling T-shirts to help
people become more aware about the environ
ment. Even after being aware about the envi
ronment they helped raise over $lOO,OOO for
the American Cancer Society by participating
its First Official Semester
then radio station WHCB. Comedian Jeff
Lifschultz was also performing that night be
fore local musicians Voo Sha Dae put on their
show. There was a quaint pumpkin painting
contest earlier that day, too.
In December the annual winter semi
formal was held at Edgewood in the Pines. The

$3,000 for march of Dimes by being part of a
walkathon.
Even with the heavy class loads of their
various club members the club managed to do
over 500 hours of community service work.
This club really showed it’sflare this year. Next
year it hopes to do the same with the new

For Valentine’s Day SUB held a draw
ing for a free gift certificate to Carmen’s
Family Resturant during the annual Valentine’s
Day dance deejayed by the cool guys from 704

OTIS Ties it All Up

At the close of this semester 0.T.1. S. is
once again sponsoring its Care Package Pro
gram. Orders are now being taken and deliv
eries will be made the last week of April.
New officers for 0.T.1. S. have been
elected and they are as follows: President,
Dayne McAfee from Zion Grove, PA; Vice
President, Dori Petritsch from Delano, PA;
Secretary, Kim Rosato from Hazleton, PA;
and Treasurer, Michele Labour from
Nescopeck, PA.
All of the clubs events were big suc
cesses. President Tom Gilligan said, “It has
been a pleasure working ith all of the club
members this year. They made my job easy and
exciting. I feel that we have one of the most
reliable staffs of any club on campus. The
services which we provide for students, the
university, and landlords of the local commu
nity often go unnoticed. I would like to
commend all of the members and wish them
luckinfutureendeavors. IhopethatO.T.l.S.’s
members increase in number, and get the rec
ognition which they deserve.”
