    The Highacres Collegian
It’s the beginning of the
Spring semester, and students
are already talking about
running for the 1993-94
President and Vice-President of
the Student Government
Association (SGA). Who are
the eager students? They
happen to be none other than
Eric Sherman and Rob
Venema. These two have been
talking about running since the
beginning of last semester.
They are both presently
senators of SGA.
Eric Sherman, who lives off
campus in the Hazleton area,
may seem at a disadvantage for
getting the votes of on- campus
students; however Sherman is
not your average off- campus
student. He is more aware of
events and problems happening
on campus than most campus
students. Sherman is on the

they raise "bail" in the form of

The planning committee of
volunteers for the event
includes Helen Braskie; Mark

Bank; Janet Stecker, First
Eastern Bank; Karen Hischar
and Henry Schultz, Boscov’s.
"All participants are good
sports about serving time in
prison," said Sandra Day,
March of Dimes Community
Director. "They know that
their efforts are helping mothers
and babies in our area."
START, Inc., is the official
national sponsor of Jail and
Bail. START offers a patented,

of the items of improvement is
club involvement. His latest
project is volunteering his time

his help in recruiting members.
Rob Venema is an on-campus
student, which might give him
an advantage over Sherman.
Venema is a member of Lion
Ambassadors and is on the
programming committee of
SGA. Rob’s latest project was
the book buy back sale, which
went underway at the beginning
of the semester.
These two candidates are
ready for the election campaign
to begin. The question is,
"Who are their vice-presidents
going to be?" This may be the
factor that places one of them
over the top.

instrumentation indicated the
amount of water present, the
interior temperature of the
nucleus, and gauged the outflow
velocities of escaping
matter.
Dr. Mumma’s lecture will tie
current research on the nature
of comets to the formation of
planetary systems, to the
origin of life and to
catastrophism.
In conjunction with this
