U.S. District Judge Daniel Hyett issued a temporary injunction in response to a legal challange from the ACLU. The injunction blocks provisions requiring spousal notification, a 24- hour waiting period and informed consent procedures. The remaining sections took effect on Jan. 16th. They were bans on abortion as a means of sex selection and abortion after 24 weeks, except to save the mother’s life. Niether side of the abortion conflict could claim victory, but the implementation of the law is yet another step toward overturning Roe vs. Wade.
