The Highacres Collegian Semi-formal date set On December eleventh, the Highacres Student Government Association will conduct a Christmas semi-formal. The for mal will be held at Gus Genetti's in Hazleton and the cost will be twenty dollars a couple and eleven dollars a person. It will run from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. and the band will be Richie Molinaro and Silk. New Horizons The Literary Magazine at Hazleton Campus is currently conducting a contest for writers. "This is the third contest we've sponsored, because we are trying to encourage students who write poetry," stated Dr. Joseph Mar chesani, concerning the poetry contest. The deadline was Monday, Oc tober Twenty-sixth. The poems are currently being Judged. Chorus Year's activities planned The Highacres choral director announced coming activities Tentative plans include a possi ble dinner concert in which the chorus would present a shortened version of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta HMS Pin nafore; the story of the admiral of the English navy and his at tempts to get his daughter mar ried off. It takes place in the seventeen and eighteen hun dreds. On December third, seventh, and ninth, the chorus will walk through Boscov's singing Christmas carols, with a formal concert being held on the ninth. On Thursday, December tenth, they will also perform for the residents of the Hazleton Lutheran Home. Also during the course of the year they will perform for various area churches and will LOOK! This term the chorus consists of twenty voices, all non-music ma jors. "Between thirty-five and forty (voices) is a good number for us . . . we need tenors and basses." HCAC -- program u The Highacres Club Advisory Council outlined its plan for November and December at a meeting Monday Council President Chris McNab announced to the organization of campus club presidents that the October Big Buddy program was successful. Eighteen children were taken by members of the council to the Jaycees' haunted house adjacent to . Diamond World, Laurel Mall, Hazleton. MeNab told the club that Big Buddy officials were pleased because the children were look ing forward to coming back in December. Some of the upcoming events planned by the club include a December 17 Christmas Party, a trip to see a theatre production in the spring, and a running marathon which is still in the planning stages.
