Highacres soccer team kicks off new season "Pleased" was the word that Soccer Coach Mr. Bill Lockwood used to describe his team's early season success so far. Due to the unfamiliarity of the team and lack of group practice, no team captains have been chosen yet. In the next four seasons, Penn State fans will be treated to some of the top intersectional mat chups of those years. Alabama, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska and Notre Dame are several of the top teams that will play in Beaver Stadium. Penn State also will continue to play traditional rivals Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia at home. Alabama will visit Beaver Stadium in 1981 and 1983, Nebraska will play here again in 1982 and Notre Dame travels to Penn State in the 1981 and 1983 seasons. Boston College, Colgate, lowa and Villanova will be retur ning to Penn State in the next four years. Syracuse (Oct. 18) will be Penn State's Homecoming opponent this fall. Other future Homecom ing dates are Oct. 10, 1981, Boston College; Oct. 16, 1982, Syracuse, and Oct. 22, 1983, West Virginia. Beaver Stadium has had its sixth major renovation in 20 years. The stadium, originally built in 1960 with 46,824 seats, will hold 83,017 persons for Penn State's six-game home schedule this year. Mr. Bruce Young, the man in charge of the program, said, "Basketball will be played Tuesday and Thursday nights, volleyball is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday nights, while bowling is slated for Tuesday nights." Six three man bowling teams will also be in competition. The Winter Term Intramural program will include: volleyball, basketball, bowling, wiffleball (in the gym), racquetball, and a Superstars competition. The en try fee of seventy-five cents covers the expense of awards. Also, a three dollar per term per person bowling fee exists. Mr. Young strongly urges anyone who has any ideas concer ning other sports or the program as it now stands to contact him.
