Page 6 The Highacres Collegian COMMUNICATIONS Finally, The Communication System is now in operation in the Commons. This system along with the Communique, is run by the Student Affairs office in its attempt to broaden communications on campus. The system was the Brainchild of Dean McCallus, Dean of Student Affairs and Ev Binns, Assistant Dean. Both individuals felt that some kind of system should be put on campus to keep the students, faculty and staff aware of upcoming events at Highacres. A mini grant was applied for to cover the expense but the grant was denied by University Park. So a new source of money was needed. SGA was approached and part of the class gift money was put toward the communication system. Money was also received from the Directors’ fund. Now, one and a half years later, the system is finally working. Technical problems held up its installation until the beginning of this term. According to Mr. Binns, the system is working well, as anyone in the Commons can tell you. The screen continually shows notes of what is happening on campus. It was hoped that the system could be expanded to the Residence Hall but problems have arose with the cable and phone companies. Anyone with something they want put on the system should see Mr. Binns in the- Main Building. LIBRARY Miss Sue Ann Cervasio has been hired as the new clerk in the Highacres library.
