SUB This term the Student Union Board hopes to run better at tended activities. Activities are being planned including some crazy new ideas, such as Bowling for Onion Rings, and traditional activities such as coffeehouses and the SUB annual. Movie Orgy. The Student Union Board needs new members. These members are needed to help run and organize this years’ ac tivities and also provide ex perienced members for next year. Student Union Board meetings are held Wednesday nights at 6:30 in the Commons, and everyone is invited. TO "THE POINT OF KNOW RETURN" On November 10th at 10:00 a.m., three Highacres volunteers and' andvisor piled suitcases, albums, a backgammon board, and, of course, themselves into a Penn State stationwagon (driven by S.U.B.’s “fearless” advisor) and headed south -- to “The Point of Know Return.” Now that you are thoroughly con fused, I guess my next step is to explain. The volunteers were: Rob Blyler, Robin Troymasky, and myself, Joanne Moer schbacher; the fearless advisor was assistant dean Ev Binns; and “The Point of Know Return” was the annual ACU-I Region 4 conference held this • year at West Virginia University in Morgantown. As we left, we weren’t exactly sure of at we were getting ourselves into, but Ev kept telling us that as soon (Continued on Page 8) CHORUS STEVE KADAR Staff Writer The chorus is one of those groups on campus that you do not hear much about. This is not to say that they are inactive. For example, this month the chorus will be performing at the Luthern Home, St. Luke Man ner, and MMI, December 20th. The chorus will present a short Christmas program during the lunch period in C-l. Students, faculty and staff are invited to bring their lunch up to C-l for this free presentation. Like many groups on campus, the chorus must fihfd ways to make money. The recent candy sale was successful, and another way to make money is to hold Mini-Jamb sessions, where students with musical talents perform. These sessions will be held in C-l during the winter term. Door prizes will be awar ded. While most of us will be trying to keep warm this term, a few of us will be down in Disney world. The chorus is going down on February 28th, and returning March sth. The cost for air fare, housing and ad mission to Disneyworld is $245.00. 36 people are signed to go, but there is room for 3 more people, so if interested . . . NOTE: The average tem perature in Hazleton is 25 degrees. The average tem perature in Florida is 85 degrees. Something to think about. On February 2nd and, 3rd, the chorus will have a Medieval Din ner. This happens to be a dinner at which there will be served soup, roasted hens, flaming plum pudding, roast beef, and a wassail boul, a form of drink. President Parnassus recently held a suc cessful book sale in the Com mons in which $5O was raised'. The. books were donated by faculty and sold at very inex pensive prices. The proceeds Circle K JOHN POLLACK President During term break Circle K made its first visit to the Luthereran Nursing Home. Only one word to describe it: fan tastic. The joy that our visait brought to these senior citizens cannot be written. When this project was first brought to Circle K, I must say I was very sceptical. I did not think that people our age could find anything in common with a Senior Citizen. I hate to admit that I was wrong. It was not the least bit difficult to sit down and strike up a conversation. We will be making more visits from time to time to the home. If anyone is interested in joining us please contact the project co ordinators: Tricia Busher or Rosalie Skrabach. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Tamea and the staff of the Ad ministration Building for baking cookies which we were able to take along on our visit. On December 13, Circle K will be manning a bell ringing station a the Laurel Mall for the benefit of the Salvation Army. Coming Attraction: Circle K first annual Bowl-a thon in February, watch bulletin boards for further details. Along with this, there will be the chorus singing songs of the medieval time, wearing clothing of the period and performing as if you were in the medieval times. The cost for all this is $lO.OO to the public. It is hoped that the cost for this event will be covered by admission charges. It is also hoped that on Feb. 5, the same event can be held for the student body at a reduced cost. were divided equally between Parnassus and the library. The books which were not sold were turned over to Dr. Santulli for donation to the Dallas State Prison. All of our members par ticipated and we thank all of the students who boUght books. Monday, December 18, 1978 RHC AL CWALINA I would like to welcome everyone back from your term break, I hope you had a great time, and the Residence Hall Council hopes you’ll have a good winter term. The Bloodmobile that was sponsored by RHC was a huge success. The final total of blood received was 156 pints. Ther were an additional 20 persons willing to give but were deferred because of medical reasons. That sets a record for the most blood ever collected at the Hazleton campus. I would like to thank all those who helped to make the bloodmobile a great success. The tree decorating party was a lot of fun. Many students showed up to help decorate the tree. Also, many students even made their ornaments. There was a pop corn stringing contest between floors which second floor girls won. I would also like to thank Donna Ditty for doing a great job on decorating the win dows with spray snow. On November 28th there was an ice cream party in the lobby of the Residence Hall. Any RHSA member was allowed to eat as much ice cream as he wished. On December 7th, pictures were taken with the Nittany Lion in front of the Christmas tree. A total of 93 pictures were taken. RHC is also sponsoring ping pong and pool tournaments. Two new toboggans were pur chased just this past week for the upcoming winter. Any RHSA member may use the toboggans providing they sign them out with either Janet Harrington, Paul Huffman, or Charlie Wayne. On December T3feh, RHC is sponsoring a Christmas Toga Party.
