Page 6 - The Highacres Collegian, Feb. 25, 1975 M* CORNER OPEN LETTER FROM SGA PRESIDENT Dear students, A few days age* at our last SGA meeting, one of our members brought up a problem that I suppose I had been aware of, but never was so keenly aware of as I am now. She mentioned that in a recent class, the class was discussing government, and the discussion eventually became centered around the Student Government of this campus. The bad part was, that the discussion ended here, because she was the only one who had any idea of what student government is or does. Therefore, I am writing this letter to inform every- one on this campus of the things accomplished by SGA this year, and, to some ex tent, to give recognition to those responsible for these accomplishments. I think the worst part about putting forth a lot of time and ef fort for the good of this campus is the fact that no body- knows about it and no body even cares enough to find out. So, I will try iby best to make everyone see that the Student Government Associ ation does more than sit a round once a week at a meet ing, and accomplish nothing. I would bet that less than 25 students on this campus who are not on SGA know all of the elected representatives. So, I will start by listing all the members. First, our advisor is Dean McCallus. The officers are: myself; Kim DePue, Vice-Pres ident; Barb Williams, Secretary; and Chris Slivka, Treasurer. The elec ted representatives are: Patti Blust, Debbie Burgess, Mark Butler, Pat Devine, Bill Finerfrock, Francie Grencavich, Sue Kinard, Karl Lutz, Maureen Marcus, Michelle McClure, Bill Michael, Donna Postupack, Luann Surak and Christie Tito. Also, Susan Petrilla, Kim Reich and Todd Croft are mem bers by virtue of their po sitions as Union Board Presi dent and BHC president and vice' president, respectively, So now you know who the people are; now, here’s what we do: Let’s start way back in September, with orientation week. I realize that if Igo through the whole year, this is going to be quite a long letter, but please bear with me. I think if I can spend COLLEGE STUDENT’S POETRY ANTHOLOGY The NATIONAL POETRY PRESS announces its SPRING COMPETITION The dosing date for the submission of manuscriots by College Students is April 10 ANY STUDENT attending either junior or senior college is eligible to submit his verse.
