DILL CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 On her colleagues: The new English instructor finds the Highacres faculty to be generally communicative, dedi cated to students, and not preoccupied with personal ambitions. "Teachers here haven't over-specialized in their fields," she asserted. She was also pleased that there seemed to be so much faculty student cooperation in campus and community activities. Hrs. Dill, who has lived in Hawaii, I daho, and on the West Coast, now resided in the scenic Sugarloaf farm country. She is the mother of a daughi, ter, 16, who attends high school in the Hazleton area, and a son and a daughter who live in California and Idaho respectively. The only part I liked about Orientation is when we went to our separate colleges and get to meet our advisors... O rientation was 0.K., but they should have a different vari ety of things to do instead of listening to all these speeches. It was good in the respect that we didn't have to go to classes right away without knowing what to do or where to go... Orientation wasn't too bad, but I wish they could have skipped a lot of stuff--like that library talk... Orientation was a-waste of time. Most of the talks were boring and, although the idea was for us to get to know people, everyoue stayed in his own group...the survi val session was not appropri ate...Pre-Registration was good. It told us what to ex pect... The first talks were boring...l didn't like being told I 'had' to pay four dol lars without being notified in advance. about it...Registram. tion went fast..." Perhaps these opinions can be of some aid to future Orientation Planning Commit tees. Who should know better what was good and bad about Orientation than those who ex perienced it? Highacres has in general made an excellent impression on the incoming students. Some of the feelings of the new students are as follows: "Highacres is a quiet and friendly place...Highacres is a peaceful place with beau tiful surroundings. The;peo-• pie, as a whole, are very friendly, and the administra tion seems concerned about stu dent affairs...Highacres is very nice...Highacres is a beautiful place with 'beauti ful' people...Highacres is real ly nice but it should be level!!!!" Hear, hear! MRS. MOYER CONTINUED PROM PAGE 1 a challenge and an exciting new experience. She cites the friendliness and helpful ness of her colleagues. "The faculty and administration have been so friendly and help ful that I have thoroughly en joyed my first weeks at the campus. I have also enjoyed renewing acquaintences with many former students from Haz leton High School and am look ing forward to learning more about the varied backgrounds of other students." Mrs. Moyer has, in the few weeks that she has-been here, noticed a,contrast be tween college and high school students. She feels that there is'a difference in the attitudes of the students to ward school and their work, noting that she feels the college students want to learn and are in college by choice, which in turn causes them to be "more conscientious and eager to learn." She feels that it is "mare vital to a college freshman to learn all he can" than to a large num ber of high school students. Mrs. Moyer's activities outside of teaching include such varied interests as read ing, crocheting, and canning. Her favorite poet is illiam Carlos Williams and her favor ite author is (wouldn't you know it?) Shakespeare. She also likes modern works and has recently finished reading The Word by Irving Wallace. Incidentally, Mrs. Moyer hated The Exorcist. Welcome to Highacres, Mrs. Moyer, and we heartily hope that it lives up to your expectations. We're sure it will. And we are equally sure thattfts. Moyer will live up to our expectations and become a great asset to our campus. Let me today do something that will take a little sadness from this world.
