If they swin as well as they
did in their first meet, the
team will surely give every
opponent a struggle. Good
luck to everyone.

RECITAL
TO
BE
GIVEN
The Department of Basic
of the College or Arts and Ar
chitecture at the Pennsylvania
State University announces a
voice recital by Mr. Joseph
Jumpeter, accompanied by Prof.
M. Leonard Shaevel to take
place Saturday, May 11, at 8:00
P.M. in C-1.
The recital will con
sist of both classical and son
temporary selections. For the
classical portion, Mr. Sumpeter
and Prof. Shaevel will present
a recitative and aria from B.
P. Handel's opera Samson; three
arias from works of Antonio
Vivaldi; and selections from
Schumann's Dichterliebe and
Ralph Von William's Pilgrim's
Progress. Popular numbers will
include three traditional spir
ituals and a medley of songs
from Fiddler on the Roof. The
Bacharach-David numbers were
arranged for the occasion by
Prof. Shaevel.
The public is invited
to attend.

HOLDS
DINNER
The Penn State Alumni Club
held a dinner on Tuesday, April
23, in the Gus Genetti Motor
Lodge. The dinner was to
celebrate the Fortieth Anniver
sary of the founding of the
Hazleton Campus.
Special guests were seven
members of the Freshman Class
of 1934 and Dr. William David,
campus director. Plaques were
presented to each of the hon
ored guests. The high point
of the program occurred when
Dr. Spallone from Virginia do
nated $5,000 over a ten year
period for a scholarship to
needy students attending the
campus.
Officers for the Alumni
Club are Alexis Neapolitan,
President; Dominic Lundro,
Vice-President; Harold Aurand,
Vice-President; Betty Harbor,
Secretary; Art Snyder, Treas
urer; and Susan Kisthart, As
sistant Secretary/Treasurer.
