TRILOGY
—Emersori, Lake, & Palmer
All I can say is, they've
done it again. These gents have
pooled their enormous talents
and have come up with an album
equal to, and more than likely
better than, their others. Don't
get me wrong, their past efforts
have been far from anything to
critize. Greg Lake's "From the
Beginning" is a very beautiful
song that adds variety to songs
like the traditional arrangement
of "Hoedown" and "A Badon's
Bolero" in concert, and for
those of you who know even a
little about music, it will boggle
your mind.' If you ever get a
chance, don't miss one of their
concerts. What more can be said
except, "Great!"
Editor Note—ln the future, watch for interviews with local
musicians. Also, if anyone has any knowledge of where a concert is
taking place, get in touch with me, Jack Yatsko; it will be
appreciated. If you don t know me, I'm the guy with that far—away
look in his eyes. Thanks!

The Th eta Kappa Pi

October 3 at 12:15. Plans for

possible for those girls interested
to join. Contact either Mrs.

of the Sorority officers. They
will fill you in on the details.
Dues are $1.50 per term.
Elections were held after
the Initiation. The new officers

CARNEY—Leon Russell
It's amazing how one man,
who started out as a studio
musician, could have so much
talent. This album has got to be
one of his finest creations. It's
not done in a typical Russell
fashion. He has created one of
the softest and most beautiful
albums this year is going to see.
The hardest hitting song, "Roller
Derby" is by no means hard in
comparison to other Leon
Russell deliveries like "Of Thee I
Sing" off the album LEON
RUSSELL & THE SHELTER
PEOPLE, just to mention one.
You would do yourself a great
injustice not to add this to your
record collection. Watch out for
"Carney" and "Acid
Annapolis," two strange but
interesting cuts off the album.
Treasurer—Beth Horvath
The annual hayride will be
held late in October. All
students are welcome to attend.
A "sign-up" sheet will be posted
in the S.U.B.
Sorority meetings will be
held every Tuesday and
Thursday during Common Hour
(12:30). All members should
attend on either one of these
days according to their own
schedule. Also a general meeting
will be held the Ist Monday of
each month promptly at 7:00.
All members are urged to attend
this special meeting.

What can you say about an
organization Whose aim it is to
draw the student body of
Highacres and the nearby
communities closer together,
literally, through better
communications? What can you
say about a group of dedicated,
hard working individuals who
spend their time building offices,
putting together equipment, and
educating themselves in the
operation and maintenance of a
radio station-an assembly of 30
people who promote classical
and progressive music and old
radio programs? You could say
"Aha, that must be WHCB!"
At least, that is what those
people would say who know
what WHCB is all about. Well,
it's about three years old, and
will ultimately go on the air as
Highacres' own educational,
non-commercial radio station.
During the three years of its
existence, with the indiSpensable
aid of faculty advisor George
Caliva and licensed operator
Elwood Tito, WHCB has
acquired a collection of 750 LPs
and 800 singles, two automatic
turntables, a number of
cartridges and a five watt AM
carrier-current transmitter.
WHCB is especially indebted to
Mr. Frank Kostos, without
whose help it would never have
gotten off the ground and into
the atmosphere, and Barry

manager.
group activity such as this,
student participation is
mandatory. Each sorority sister
should take pride in the Sorority
and work to attain its goal.
UNICEF The Theta Kappa
Pi Sorority will aid UNICEF
again this year. A table will be
set up in the S.U.B. on Tuesday,
October 31. Please give to this
worthy cause. The money
collected will be used to buy
food, clothing and medicine for
needy children all over the
world.
Sisters of the Sorority will
also convass the Dorm for
contributions. Again, please dig
down and give what ever you
can.
Buzz?
The ambitions of the
Hazleton Broadcasting Company
for this year include an endeavor
to set up a carrier-current
transmitter for comme:zial
broadcasting into the Residence
Halls and the acquisition of
some recording equipment. It is
hopeful that someday soon
WHCB will be heard within a
25-mile radius from a ten-watt
transmitter. In an effort to
achieve these goals, several
fund-raising projects, including a
car rally, are in tentative
planning stages.
The officers of WHCB
elected for this year are:
Station Manager .
Business Managers
Secretary-Treasurer .

UNIVERSITY PARK (APS)
--Twenty-nine years ago,a
People's Artist of the USSR
named Nadezhda Nadezhdina
formed a dance company and
called it "Beryozka," Russian
for "little birch."
Nadezhdina, the director
and creator of all the dances and
programs, brought her "little
birch" to Recreation Hall on
Friday, October 6, and turned in
a stunning performance.
Her company of one
hundred men and women
dancers, singers, and musicians,
performed to an almost
continuous, and always
thunderous applause. The
Beryozka Dance Company was
the first in a series of five major
events planned by the Artists
Series of the Pennsylvania State
University. The magnificence of
the athletic strength displayed
by the men was off-set by the
beautiful, flowing grace of the
women, as theydanced to folk
music from the wide-flung
corners of the Soviet Union.

Bob Dylan
Leaving U.S.
(ZNS) The United States is
on the verge of losing Bob
Dylan. Dylan, who is probably
the biggest name in Folk-Rock
music, has applied to emigrate to
Israel to live in a Kibbutz. The
INCONOCLAST, an alternative
weekly in Dallas, Texas, reports
that Dylan has been tentatively
accepted as member of a
Kibbutz. The I
NCONCLASTadds that a
lengthy questionnaire has been
forwarded to Dylan. If the
Kibbutz likes the way Dylan fills
the questionnaire out, and
accepts his application, Dylan is
expected to move to Israel as
soon as he hears he is accepted.

It can safely be said that
Nadezhdina is a genius in her
field. The incredible intricacy
and complexity of her dances is
interpreted to absolute
perfection by some of the
biggest names in Russian dance.
Testimony to the perfection
displayed was the five-minute
standing ovation from the
capacity throng at the
conclusion of the program.
The Pennsylvania State
University Artists Series can feel
justifiably proud of their first
major program of the year.
Forthcoming programs include
The Hungarian State Symphony
Orchestra on Saturday,
November 18, 1972; Van

Symphony Orchestra, Saturday,
May 12, 1973. All programs
begin at 8:30 p.m., in
