The Avengers have not lost a basketball game since December of 1969 and now possess a winning streak of eighteen games. The intercollegiate basketball team made one of its better showing in years and advanced to the eastern conference playoffs with Scranton. In the playoff game, Hazleton was eliminated by virtue of an 86-66 defeat at Scranton's home court. The Highacres team finished with a 9-4 record. Four members of the starting line-up will return next year along with many of the reserves from this year's team. Next year could be Hazleton's year in basketball. The Bowling Team was crowned this year's Pocono Region Champions. They won the championship by defeating Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Allentown, and Schuylkill Haven in the annual tournament held this year at Allentown.
