S.G.A.
REPORTS
• The treasurer's report revealed
that the S. G. A. has received a
$2,000 appropriation from Univer
sity Park. This is approximately
one half of the year's allocation
that we will receive from University
Park. It was also reported that the
receipts of the Student Activity
tickets totaled $lO7O.
• A resolution to support efforts
for a traffic light was unanimously
accepted. A letter was sent to the
State Department of Highways was
read and approved.
• Frank (Satch) Schiavone was
appointed to set up a Student Judi
cial Board.
• Nancy Ancharski and Kathleen
Gibson were appointed to a bulletin
board clean-up committee.
• A motion was passed that a col
lection be taken from the student
body for flowers for Rhona Narrow.
• Approval was given for the for
mation of a Young Democrats Club
on campus.
• A motion was made that the
Belles-Lettres Society take over
all future T.G.I.F. talks.
• A motion was also made to
make the Chimes Account a grow
ing one. The account has $1,681.
05 of the estimated $3OOO cost.
• A motion passed that Social
Activities make arrangements for
All-University Day Participation.
• A committee was appointed to
meet with Mr. Kostas and Mr.
Schneider to discuss pre-registra
tion and the choosing of courses.
The committee includes: Nancy
Ancharski, Bonnie Bangor, John
Barletta, Kathleen Gibson, Jerry
Notaro, and Bonnie Penkala.

DON'T DRINK
AND DANCE
Complaints have been received
by the members of the Social Ac
tivities Committee concerning the
behavior of several students attend
ing dances at Highacres while un
der the influence of alcohol. Sen
ate regulation W-I2 prohibits the
use of any alcoholic beverage on
University property. In the future
anyone whose sobriety is question
able will be asked to leave the
dance. If necessary, this request
will be enforced by the policemen
on duty at the affair. This pre
caution is essential to prevent the
occurrence .. of any disturbances
which may lead to the suspension
of dances at this campus.
STUDENT COURT
The Student Government Associ
ation approved the following people
to be appointed to the Student Court.
The regular members are Diana Goi
oda, Mike Kasten, Mike Nowik, Neil
Savage, John Tucker, and Marion
Zigler. The alternative members
are Kristina Andrakitis, Mark La
mont, and Luke Nester. Mr. Price
will serve as advisor for the Stu
dent Court.
DR. LEVY TO SPEAK AT S.U.B. LOUNGE
Dr. Willy Levy, pioneer authority on rockets and space travel, wi II
speak in the S.U.B. lounge on November Ist at 8:00 P.M. He is the author
of "Rockets, Missles and Space Travel", "The Exploration of Mars",
and "The Conquest of Space".
He is renowned as an eloquent spokesman for scientific research in
these fields. He has the ability of making the most abstruse and techni
cal theories thoroughly understandable to the layman.
LIBRARY
NEWS
For the first time in the history
of the Hazleton Campus library, a
student handbook has been pub
lished. This handbook explains
library rules and regulations; pro
cedures for rotating books, and the
transformation from the Dewey
classification system to the Library
of Congress Classification system,
which our library is now undergo
ing. Freshmen received these books
during Orientation Week. All Soph
omores are requested to pick up a
copy in the library. Any criticisms
or suggestions for next year's hand
book will be greatly appreciated.
Our library is continuing to grow.
This summer 678 new books have
been added to our shelves. In ad
dition, we are now receiving 176
magazines. A new book list is a
vailable on Computers and Com
puter Programming for anyone inter
ested.
The new Copia II Copying ma
chine is now installed. Pages can
be copied for ten cents a page.
This machine will be located in
the Charge room of the library.
The library will be open Monday
to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
and Monday evenings 6:30 p.m. to
9:00 p.m.
