    Although students in gen
eral have the inherent lat
ent ability to perform the
work required in each of
their specific courses,
they, especially the fresh
man, hare a tendency to be
come discouraged. Although
various and sundried causes
may be discussed relative
to this discouragement, only
one of the major factors
causing this discouragement
will be discussed.
Students, in general, do
not realize that they are
members of a team, and do
not work as team members to
accomplish their goals.
The team of which they are
members is composed of a
coach, the teacher, the ad
visor and counselor, the
managers, and the other mem
bers, the other students.
Therefore, if you, the stu
dents, are really doing
your part to accomplish
your goals as far as the
team is concerned, you
should be in constant touch
with the coach in order to
perfect your specialty, the
managers to ensure that you
are in your proper special
ty, and helping and cooper
ating with other members to
accomplish your goals. If
you are not making full use
of any of these you are not
working as a team member,
and although you may accom
plish your task, the odds
are against you.
So, during the next three
weeks let us hope that each
and everyone of you will
make full use of the coach,
manager and other team mem
bers to attain your goals.
There is one final item
of importance, YOU, team
members, who are perform
ing well, join the team,
and help those team members
who are not performing well.
You will be surprised at
the gains you will receive.
